David Rose of Curwensville has announced his candidacy for Curwensville Borough Council.
Mr. Rose said his campaign slogan will be putting “Community First.” Rose said he will support community and business development to help restore the pride and the historical image of a town when it was known for its beloved Pee Wee’s Nest.
A 1979 graduate of Curwensville Area School District, Mr. Rose attended Edinboro and Gannon Universities and the DuBois Business College, where he studied psychology, accounting and business administration.
Emerging as a financial leader, Mr. Rose has served as a corporate business controller supervising accounting and human resource departments over the past 18 years and crossing multiple competitive industries in technology, large-scale construction, engineering, publishing and printing with noted expertise in government GSA contracts and corporate accounting and administration within the private sector.
In his earlier career, he has excelled in music, retail sales, restaurant and business management and as a caregiver in the mental health and retardation service industry.
Having lived in cities throughout his adult life such as Erie, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Alexandria/Washington, D.C. metro and Harrisburg areas, Mr. Rose returned to his hometown of Curwensville in 2012. Now semi-retired, he has resumed to his life-long love of serving as an active and passionate member of the Curwensville community.
Mr. Rose listed the following as his activities: Curwensville Community Center Board, vice president; Curwensville Library Corp., president; Curwensville Revitalization Team member and business district chair; Curwensville Rotary, foundation chairman; and administrator of www.CurwensvilleBorough.com and the Facebook “Like” pages for the Curwensville Korb House Museum, the Curwensville Irvin Park, the Curwensville Rails to Trails and the Curwensville Revitalization Team.
Mr. Rose has interests in mentor programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Scouts, community and business development and leisure activities, such as photography, travel, fishing, boating and all things that are considered gadgets.
