Mary A. Snyder, 89, of the Philipsburg Towers, passed into God’s hands on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Windy Hill Village.
Born Feb. 4, 1924 in Philipsburg, Mary was a daughter of the late Gurnee and Elsie (Yingling) McClellan. She was a Christian by faith.
On Sept. 3, 1946 in Philipsburg, she married Francis C. “Bud” Snyder, who died July 26, 1995.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Orwick and Lena McClellan, both of Philipsburg, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Miller and Betty Bell, and five brothers, Glenn McClellan, George McClellan, Andrew “Jack” McClellan, Nathan McClellan and Clarence Yingling. She worked as a housekeeper for many families in Philipsburg. She was one of the first residents to occupy the apartments and enjoyed living at the Towers.
She also enjoyed her trips to Florida and flew alone at the age of 80. She enjoyed playing bingo every Tuesday evening and Friday morning. She was a joy to her family and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Philipsburg Towers, 300 N. Front St. Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Burial was in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
