MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP – On Monday, a 29-year-old Kittanning man, Shawn Ryan Carr, was charged with murder and manslaughter for the death of Jefferson County teen Devan Knapp, according to Clarion County District Attorney Mark Aaron.
Knapp disappeared on Jan. 11, and her body was found four days later in Millcreek Township, Clarion County. Aaron said Carr is facing charges that include third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, drug delivery resulting in death and abuse of a corpse.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police that he saw Carr inject Knapp with a syringe of heroin. Police said Knapp had trouble breathing at which point Carr and another witness removed her clothes and placed her in a cold shower. Knapp was then moved to a couch, where other witnesses said she appeared to stop breathing.
Police said Carr carried Knapp to her car and drove off. One witness told police he followed Carr to Summerville Drive in Clarion County, where her body was later found. That witness also said Carr situated Knapp in the driver’s seat and put a syringe in her lap to make it look like she had overdosed there.
Carr is currently incarcerated at the Armstrong County Jail.
