CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area United Way held its fourth report luncheon today at the St. Charles Café, and volunteers announced $17,879 in new contributions. This brings its total raised to $227,078, or 93 percent, of the community goal to help 25 local member agencies located throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County.
“The United Way is busy following up with those who have held a special place in their heart for the Clearfield area,” said Nancy Pinto of the CAUW. “We’re asking those who haven’t yet given to please consider doing so to help us reach our goal and to continue to help others of all ages.”

In addition, Clearfield’s Lowe’s store and the CAUW are partnering to collect items for the children affected by Hurricane Sandy. Brad Shaw of Lowes’ Human Resources Department said that a “Tree of Warmth” will be placed inside the store and interested donors may place mittens, gloves, hats or scarves on its branches.
The CAUW is working with New Jersey-based United Way agencies, where their residents have been affected by the hurricane. The CAUW will send its collected items to New Jersey. Items can be donated up until Dec. 31.
Also, contributions are welcome and may be given to Shaw. Checks should be made payable to the “United Way.”
