William H. “Bill” Dodd, 84, of Penfield died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
Born May 24, 1928 at his home in Sabula, he was the son of the late Hiram H. and Ruth (Bundy) Dodd. His mother died when he was 5 months old and he was raised by his step-mother, Mildred (Reinard) Dodd.
On June 22, 1957, he married Dora M. (Bundy) Dodd. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator in our area for more than 40 years. He was a past member of the Local 66 Operators and Engineers Union.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was formerly active in the Light and Life Free Methodist Church. He loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Bradley Dodd and his wife, Bonnie of Sabula and his daughter, Vivian Beck and her husband, David of Weedville; three brothers, Robert Dodd and his wife, Marie; Allen Dodd and his wife, Norma; and Glenn Dodd and his wife, Gertie, all of Sabula; nine grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. He’s also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Imogene Keck and two brothers, Jim Dodd and Dick Dodd.
There will be a viewing from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday at the Treasure Lake Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Treasure Lake Church with Pastor Dick Whitaker, Pastor Robert Cappel and Pastor Bruce Burkett co-officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
