DUBOIS – A 19-year-old Georgia woman was killed in an automobile accident in Sandy Township on Thursday.
The Sandy Township Police Department reported that Kristeena Marie Zampella of Gainesville was exiting Interstate 80. She was coming down the ramp onto state Route 255 and went into the path of a van driven by Dave Pearson of St. Marys, who was traveling south.
The force of the impact reportedly pushed Zampella’s vehicle into a Chevy Cobalt driven by Sharon Haag of Brookville, who was waiting to make a left turn to get onto I-80 east.
Pearson was flown to Altoona Regional for treatment of injuries that he suffered. Haag was not injured. Zampella perished as a result of the accident.
All vehicle were towed from the scene and SR 255 was closed from the DuBois Mall to Sher-De-Lin Road for several hours while crews investigated the accident.
