UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — After scoring the first two goals of her Nittany Lion career last Friday (Oct. 19) evening in a 5-1 victory over Michigan State, freshman Mallory Peterson (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week the conference office announced on Monday.
Peterson garners her first ever Big Ten award after finding the back of the net twice in Friday’s 5-1 victory over Michigan State at Jeffrey Field. With Penn State leading 3-1, the freshman scored back-to-back goals within five minutes to put a cushion on Penn State’s lead. Peterson now has five points this season coming on two goals and an assist.
Fourth-ranked Penn State (15-2-1, 9-0-1) captured its 15th-straight Big Ten regular season title in a 1-1 draw against 17th-ranked Michigan on Sunday.
