Police Report: Philipsburg PSP

A natural death was reported at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday on South Centre Street in Port Matilda Borough. A 47-year-old Port Matilda woman was discovered deceased within her residence by a family member. State police said that her death likely resulted from natural causes; no suspicious circumstances surround her death. The investigation is continuing pending the woman’s autopsy.
An incident of simple assault occurred at 6:20 p.m. Monday on North Seventh Street in Philipsburg Borough. Two Philipsburg residents engaged in a verbal argument that subsequently turned into a physical altercation. During the argument, a 25-year-old woman allegedly punched a 22-year-old man in the face with a closed fist. The man then allegedly placed the woman in a choke hold. The woman was arrested for harassment; the male was arrested for simple assault.
