Beverly J. (Shimmel) Matchock, 73, of Ramey died Tuesday, Oct.16, 2012 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Pnakovich) Shimmel. She was a life-long parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey where she taught religious education for many years.
Mrs. Matchock was a 1957 graduate of the former Madera High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at the former General Cigar Plant in Philipsburg after graduating from high school.
On Sept. 29, 1962 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, she married Robert Matchock, who survives of Ramey.
She’s survived by two sons, Robert L. Matchock and his wife, Melissa of Alexandria and Ronald A. Matchock and his wife, Nancy of Ramey; two grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Matchock of Ramey, who were the light of her life and who she adored.
Also surviving are a brother, Ronald Shimmel of Ramey; an aunt, Margaret Pnakovich of Clearfield; a brother-in-law, John Matchock of Ramey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Allen Shimmel and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Beatrice Matchock.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Ramey.
