Lady Tide Volleyball Team Sweeps Mo Valley

HOUTZDALE — The Curwensville Lady Tide faced off with rival Mo Valley on Monday night and earned a sweep of the Lady Damsels to raise their record to 4-8.

The scores in the 3-game match were 25-15, 25-21, 25-13.

Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor commented on the game and the Lady Tide’s upcoming game as well, “I thought we played very well tonight. We had a very strong serving night, which we’ve have been working hard on getting the serves over and putting it in play. We want our opponents to earn their points; we dont want to give them a point on a missed serve. We hustled to the ball and the long volleys we did have, we were able to finally start winning the point – Katrina, Ciara and Tierra had a great night at the net it wasn’t all about the hard kills. It was about placing the ball after seeing where the holes were. Alaina and Melanie again had a solid night running the offense – we have been stressing that as setters they need to get to that second ball and set it up and they are doing a nice job doing that. We have a tough match Tuesday against a strong Punxsy team.  We just need to play to our best ability and we will see what happens.”

Tierra Shope – 5 kills, 11 digs, 5 service points

Ciara Strickland – 3 kills, 8 digs, 7 service points

Alaina Stiles – 20 assists, 13 service points

Curwensville’s junior varsity team was beaten in a 3-game match 26-24, 24-26, 9-15 to drop only their third match of the year against nine wins.

The Lady Tide will be back in action Tuesday night when they host the Lady Chucks on “Think Pink” Night.  Punxsutawney beat the Lady Tide three games to one back on September 13.
