DuBOIS – The Rehabilitation Center of DuBois Regional Medical Center has received the 2007 Top Performer Award from Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation. Uniform Data System, or UDS, is the most widely used system in the nation for measuring the performance of rehabilitation hospitals.
The Rehabilitation Center of DRMC, a service affiliated with HealthSouth, achieved this award for its outstanding rehabilitation program performance.
An evaluation by UDS measured patient results, efficiency and safety of 827 other rehabilitation facilities nationwide. The Rehabilitation Center ranked in the top 10 percent.
“This is quite an impressive accomplishment, and we hope you display your plaque proudly,” Francis J. Hagerty, chief product officer and director of marketing for UDS, said. “We commend you and your rehabilitation team for your achievement”.
“The Rehabilitation Center is among the top advanced services our hospital has to offer. It is very encouraging to be recognized nationally for our outcomes and patient care. It is because of our excellent physicians and staff,” Raymond A. Graeca, president of DRMC, said.
The Rehabilitation Center of DRMC is a 29-bed unit located on the fifth floor of DRMC West. Dr. Laun Hallstrom, its medical director and Dr. Lynn Myers, associate director, are both specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation. They manage and direct patient care on a daily basis.
“We provide high-quality care; acknowledgment of this performance by Uniform Data System is an extraordinary accomplishment for our diligent nursing and therapy staff,” Hallstrom said.
Rehabilitation programs include stroke, brain injury, neurological disorders, amputation, rheumatoid arthritis and many other illnesses. “Aggressive rehabilitation can make a major difference in a patient’s function and how quickly an individual is able to return home following illness or injury,” Myers remarked. “We are proud of our award and we will continue to monitor our performance while providing the DuBois area and surrounding communities with this high level rehabilitative care”.
Uniform Data System will continue to recognize outstanding facilities that operate at a high performance level.
