PIKE TOWNSHIP – The Clearfield-based state police are probing an accident that occurred at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday along state Route 879, the Clearfield-Curwensville Highway, in Pike Township.
Nicole L. Hadvabne, 22, of Curwensville was traveling southbound when she observed a dark-colored sports utility vehicle that was traveling northbound at an excessive rate of speed in her lane. She swerved leftward to avoid being struck head-on by the SUV.
Hadvabne subsequently lost control of her vehicle and spun around in the northbound lane, striking the guiderail on the east berm of the roadway. The SUV’s operator fled the scene heading northbound on SR 879. The Hadvabne vehicle came to a final rest, facing north on the east berm.
Hadvabne was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. She wasn’t injured.
