Mary Irene Vallimont, 71 of Clearfield died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at the Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 9, 1941, a daughter of the late Aloysius ‘Ollie’ and Lucy (Renoe) Vallimont, formerly of Clearfield.
Ms. Vallimont graduated from the St. Francis High School, Clearfield, and received a Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Villa Marie College in Erie.
She was a teacher for several years prior to moving to Rochester, NY. While in New York, she was employed as a computer specialist for Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of service.
Ms. Vallimont loved nature and animals and filled her home and garden with beautiful flowers, sharing generously with everyone. She enjoyed walking her Britney Spaniels through wooded parks and nature trails.
She considered her greatest accomplishment the many years she spent compiling an extensive family history complete with pictures and legal documents dating back to the 12th century. She wanted to pass on to her children (nieces and nephews) a historical foundation for their lives and generations to come.
She will be missed by her two brothers, Louis Vallimont of New Jersey and John Vallimont of Virginia; her three sisters, Helen Hay of Bermuda, Anne Loeilo of Clearfield and Clare Kellet of North Carolina; 15 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville, with the Rev. David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church.
