DUBOIS – A DuBois project to improve traffic flow near the DuBois Mall continues this week with work closing a portion of Beaver Drive in the evening and early morning hours.
Starting Monday night, Beaver Drive will be closed to traffic between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Closures will continue through the rest of the week, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., ending Friday morning.
The official detour for the closure directs motorists to take Shaffer Road to Route 255, East DuBois Avenue, to Division Street.
Overall work on the project will include roadway widening on Shaffer Road and Beaver Drive, the addition of turn lanes for the Shaffer Road/Beaver Drive intersection, latex deck overlay for the Sandy Lick Creek Bridge on Shaffer Road, and signal upgrades.
PennDOT expects roadwork to be finished late this year, with signal upgrades scheduled for spring of 2013. The contractor on this $1.2 million project is Francis J. Palo Construction Co. of Clarion.
Drivers are reminded to proceed with caution, remain patient during travel delays, and be alert for crews working along the roadway. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
