WALLACETON – Fire trucks, food, music and games, combined with a beautiful summer day provided a day of family fun at the 19th annual Wallaceton Days Festival.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Wallaceton Volunteer Fire Department, which has been serving Wallaceton and surrounding communities for 44 years. The coordinators of the three-day festival try to make sure there’s something for everyone.
Terry “Butch” Rothrock, fire chief and department charter member, said ,”We make sure there’s a DJ for the younger crowd Friday night, but Saturday night there’s always a live band for the folks who enjoy country and oldies music.”
Sam Gallagher, local singer and songwriter, joined with Don Mohney and Red Bailey with the band Nothing Fancy to provide Saturday night’s entertainment.
Saturday’s parade was the second largest in the history of the festival and drew a large crowd. “It’s great to have so many schools and area fire companies turn out for the parade,” said Rothrock. “We even had trucks from Karthaus today.”
As regular fundraisers, Wallaceton Fire Co. offers breakfast every Sunday from 7-10 a.m. and bingo every Thursday at 7 p.m.
