Daniel P. Witherite, 65, of Clearfield died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1947, a son of Paul Witherite, Curwensville, and the late Marie (Hawk) Witherite.
He was very involved with the Literacy Council at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Library, Clearfield, where he volunteered teaching reading to many people.
Mr. Witherite was a veteran of the U. S. Navy Reserves, serving during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother and two sisters, Robert A. Witherite and his wife, Glenna L. and Kathryn M. Wills and her husband, Dennis G., all of Curwensville and Diana R. Floyd and her husband, Douglas E. of Mineral Springs; seven nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville with the Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield.
