Shirley Lou Slother, 88, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born Oct. 5, 1923 in West Decatur, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mayme (Casey) Wood. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg.
She was employed at Riverside Market in Philipsburg until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Slother was a 1941 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
She wed Michael J. Slother on Dec. 10, 1947 in Philipsburg. He survives and lives in Philipsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Delia Dixon.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey and the Rev. Thomas McCoy co-officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, and from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Monday at the church.
