Temporary signals and truck detour in effect
DUBOIS – Temporary signals are in place on Route 255 as replacement work takes place on a bridge that spans Sandy Lick Creek, just north of Sabula Lake.
Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Clearfield County’s list of structurally deficient bridges and keep it in service for years to come. The bridge was built in 1929, is 27 feet long and carries more than 6,000 vehicles per day.
The temporary signals will control an alternating traffic pattern while the existing bridge is replaced with a concrete box culvert. Concrete barrier is in place with a lane width of 11 feet. Motorists are cautioned to slow down as they approach the signals and work zone. Motorists should also be prepared to stop.
A 5-ton weight restriction is in effect for Route 255 during this job. Trucks over five tons are required to use a detour that includes I-80, Route 153 and Route 255. Detour signs are in place to assist drivers. School buses and emergency vehicles will be able to move through the work zone.
Horizon Construction Group of Sandy Lake is the contractor on this $1.2 million job. Overall work includes replacement of the existing bridge, paving of bridge approaches, minor drainage improvements, and guide rail updates. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
