UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State women’s soccer senior midfielder Christine Nairn (Arnold, Md.) has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday (Aug. 27). Nairn is Penn State’s first winner since Maya Hayes last year on Oct. 24.
Nairn scored three goals this past weekend, including the game-tying goal against No. 1 Stanford. She additionally tallied two goals and an assist in the Nittany Lions’ win over Central Michigan. Nairn scored three times on six shots, as she earns her second weekly award of her career. Nairn’s five goals this season already eclipses last year’s total.
Penn State will have the week off before heading to West Virginia for the WVU 90 Minute Classic. The Nittany Lions take on West Virginia on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Pittsburgh on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
