CLEARFIELD – A 35-year-old Houtzdale man who has been accused of bursting into a woman’s residence and assaulting the man who was there with her had all charges bound over during Centralized Court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Corey Dean Harris, 35, of Houtzdale, has been charged with burglary; simple assault; harassment; criminal mischief; and criminal trespass.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 9 p.m. July 14, the Clearfield-based state police were dispatched to an alleged assault in progress at a Pine Street residence in Woodward Township. Upon state police arrival, a woman said she and the man were sitting on the couch and watching a Pittsburgh Pirates game.
Then, Harris allegedly burst through the door of her residence. She ordered him to “get out,” saying she was “calling the cops.” He replied that he was “going to make it worth it.”
She told state police that Harris went over to the man and started punching him multiple times. She said that he pushed her when she attempted to pull him off the victim.
The woman got up and began pushing Harris toward the door until he left. She told state police that the table near her couch had been broken because of the assault.
In the affidavit, she noted to state police that she’d been Harris’ girlfriend for the past five years until she ended their relationship approximately one month ago.
State police observed bruises to the left side of the victim’s face as well as a bump on the back of his head. The victim also had some blood in his left eye and the outside part of his left hand had swollen. There was also a damaged table in the residence where the assault had occurred.
