CLEARFIELD – The preliminary hearing was continued for a 29-year-old Clearfield man who has been accused of threatening a juvenile male relative with a knife during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Marshall Allen Luzier, 29, of Clearfield is facing charges of simple assault and terroristic threats. His bail is currently set at $10,000 monetary. Luzier’s preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Clearfield Borough police were dispatched to assist Clearfield County Children, Youth and Family Services at 2:01 p.m. Aug. 10. Caseworker Sue Wetzel was interviewing Luzier regarding a child abuse complaint at which time he allegedly became unruly, used obscene language and threw an end table.
Police interviewed a family relative who said on July 26, Luzier lost his temper with the juvenile relative after he didn’t eat his supper and dumped it on the floor. The relative alleged Luzier threatened the victim and ordered him to “clean up his mess,” and if he did not, he would “slice his arteries in his throat.” Further, the relative alleged Luzier retrieved a chef knife from the kitchen and returned to the living room.
“[He said,] ‘It’s not working so if I have a knife in front of you, it might work better. The whole time, he’s repeating that he knew where the arteries are. They [CYS] thought your mother was nuts; well, they haven’t seen anything yet. He was tapping the [knife] point on the stand. [Victim’s name omitted] was crying and afraid,” said the relative, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
On Aug. 8, the family relative alleged Luzier lost his temper again, while he and the victim were having a disagreement. Afterward, the relative heard a “thud sound” and the victim entered the bedroom. He was crying. The relative observed redness on the left side of the victim’s face and head.
Police interviewed Luzier Aug. 10 at the Clearfield Borough police station. He admitted to losing his temper with the male relative. In addition, he admitted to tapping the knife on the table next to the victim’s head for not listening to him. However, he didn’t recall what statements he’d directed toward him during the alleged incident. He denied causing injuries or pushing the victim’s head into the wall.
Wetzel interviewed the victim who said Luzier had pushed his head into the wall and injured him. Police observed and photographed a large bruise on the victim’s head.
