HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP – A 40-year-old Darlington man sustained major injuries following a motorcycle versus vehicle accident at 5:32 p.m. Friday at the intersection of state Route 66 and SR 948 in Highland Township, the Ridgway-based state police reported.
The accident victim was identified as Brian R. Peterson, 40, of Darlington, who was flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Phillip E. Rodgers, 29, of Warren was stopped at the intersection of SR 66 and SR 948. He proceeded for a left-hand turn onto SR 66 when he failed to observe a motorcycle operated by Peterson. Rodgers pulled into traffic and caused the Peterson motorcycle to impact his in the 12 o’clock position.
Neither Rodgers nor his passenger, Brian J. Rodgers, 26, of Sheffield was injured in the accident; both were wearing their seatbelts. Phillip Rodgers will be cited for summary violations.
