CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
He identified the fugitive as Michael Webster, 31, of Hemlock Street, Philipsburg. Webster was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list Monday.
On Jan. 1, Patrolman John Brown of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Webster with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Brown states that on Dec. 31, 2011, after receiving a report of an individual pounding on the window of a vehicle parked at the Clearfield Hospital, police stopped the vehicle on Hannah Street. Upon making contact, Brown detected signs of impairment. Webster was apprehended and transported to the Clearfield Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was held March 14, at which time all charges were held to court. On July 12, Webster failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that Webster voluntarily surrendered himself Tuesday to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
