PHILIPSBURG – A 46-year-old Philipsburg man, Christopher Paul Dombroski, has been jailed on simple assault charges after a violent domestic dispute that occurred Sunday in the 1100 block of Alter Street in Philipsburg Borough.
The Philipsburg-based state police reported that Dombroski and the victim allegedly engaged in a domestic dispute, which escalated into a physical altercation. He allegedly struck the victim in the head, while she was on the phone.
In addition, he allegedly twisted her arm and removed keys from her hand. Later he allegedly attempted to strangle her; however, she broke free by biting his hand. At some point, he allegedly prevented her from calling 911 by taking the phone from her.
State police said Dombroski allegedly made repeated attempts to tackle and strangle the victim and threatened her life. At some point, the victim fled the residence and entered a vehicle driven by a passerby.
The accused allegedly chased down the victim and pulled her out of the vehicle. He escorted her back inside the residence, where he allegedly attempted to strangle her several more times.
The victim fled the residence again; Dombroski fled on foot when she returned. He was subsequently apprehended without incident. The victim didn’t require immediate medical attention, state police said.
Dombroski was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Allen W. Sinclair and remanded to the Centre County Prison in lieu of $10,000. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 22 at the Centre County Courthouse.
