CLEARFIELD– Local police, fire and emergency personnel initiated a search for missing teens that had gone tubing on the river Monday, the Clearfield Borough Police Department reported.
At 7:57 p.m., Clearfield Police were dispatched to Upper Witmer Park along East Locust Street for a suspicious man near the river. The man was a minor under 18 years old and under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
Clearfield emergency personnel were summoned and transported the man to the Clearfield Hospital. While conducting the investigation, police learned from the man that he’d been tubing on the river with three friends. He told police his friends were now missing.
The Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township police and fire departments, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. and the Clearfield Emergency Management Agency conducted a search of the river.
An 18-year-old Bigler man was located under the Market Street Bridge. He was still in a raft on the river. He was also found under the influence of drugs and alcohol and required medical attention. He was transported to the Clearfield Hospital.
Officials located two other men who were involved and found they were safe and at home. They had left the river prior to the incident.
