HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s auditor general says the state’s governor and Penn State’s president shouldn’t be serving as voting members of the University’s board of trustees.
Auditor General Jack Wagner released his recommendations Thursday morning as part of a review of Penn State’s governance.
Wagner says the legislature needs to act because it’s impossible for the University trustees to be objective in restructuring their organization.
As auditor general, Wagner was elected statewide and is one of Pennsylvania’s highest-ranking elected Democrats. The current governor, Tom Corbett, is a Republican.
Wagner also recommends the state’s open records law should be amended so that it covers Penn State and three other so-called state-related Universities.
