CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council is considering a former borough official for a vacant council seat.
During Thursday night’s committee meetings, council’s Personnel Committee recommended the appointment of Larry Mack to fill the vacant Fourth Ward seat.
According to previously-published GANT News reports, council accepted the retirement of Mack as code enforcement officer in November 2021 to be effective March 4, 2022.
He served as the borough’s building code official/code & zoning officer for about 13 years, having assumed the position in March 2009.
Mack addressed council during public comment at its Dec. 19 meeting to express his interest in becoming the Fourth Ward representative.
In addition to previously being the borough code official, Mack said he had also served on council previously, and was a small business owner for many years.
The Fourth Ward seat was vacant due to the resignation of Courtney Mayhew in November.
Mayhew had been appointed to council in late July to fill the seat left vacant due to the resignation of Brandi Matsko.
Matsko resigned her council seat in June.
Council will vote on Mack’s appointment at its Jan. 16 meeting, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the borough’s administrative office building.
Also, on Thursday night, council’s Finance Committee announced there will be a special council meeting at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 13, with a Tax Anticipation Note on the agenda.
