CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) will hold auditions Dec. 9 and 10, at 6:30 p.m., for its next season production, Outside Mullingar.
Those auditioning are asked to attend one session of auditions and be prepared to read from the script with others auditioning.
CAST is looking for a male and a female who can present/act age 55-plus, as well as a male and a female age 18-40.
In addition to adult actors, CAST is looking for those willing to operate lighting and sound equipment and assist with sets and costumes.
Anyone interested in those aspects of the production can also come during audition times to speak with members of the production team.
Performances of Outside Mullingar are Feb. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. This production is directed by Matt Hertlein and Noah Webb.
Per the production’s synopsis, Anthony and Rosemary are two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well.
Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away. With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe.
But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness.
Their journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell and ultimately deeply moving. Outside Mullingar is a compassionate, delightful work about how it’s never too late to take a chance on love.
