CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council is preparing to present its 2025 preliminary budget.
Thursday night council reported that budget discussion will be held Nov. 21, with a proposed tax rate to be set for borough residents.
The budget—once preliminarily approved—will be placed for advertisement and public inspection before its final adoption.
Also, on Thursday night, there was a street department update given on the borough’s leaf pickup, which is over halfway complete.
Street Foreman Todd Kling reported that leaf pickup will continue for another two weeks, with scheduled pickups alternating between the East and West sides of the borough.
Kling also said the department is almost set to begin its winter maintenance on equipment prior to Thanksgiving.
In addition, council discussed the purchase of a $17,000 section of playground equipment for Upper Witmer Park.
Kling explained how prior equipment, namely in the rope area, had to be removed due to wear from constant use.
He made it very clear that no fault of any child or citizen was the cause of the equipment removal, just natural wear from use and that the equipment purchased will replace what has been removed.
Council—at this time—has tabled its discussion on the purchase, noting it will resume at a later date.
Residents were also reminded that the borough’s administrative office will be closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. The office will reopen to the public the following day, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m.
The next meeting for Clearfield Borough Council will be on Thursday, Nov. 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
