As the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby continues to impact the state, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers in its North Central Region of the impacts on local roadways:
As of 2 p.m., there were 19 full road closures in the region consisting of Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter counties.
In some instances, the roadways are closed because the water level reached the underside of a bridge and PennDOT must perform inspections of those structures before reopening them.
Those instances are noted in boldface. This list of closures is as follows:
Cameron County
- Route 555 closed between the intersections of Route 255 in Jay Township, Elk County, and Route 120 in Driftwood Borough, Cameron County. PennDOT expects this closure to remain in place until a least until 5 p.m.
Centre County
- Route 2010 (Upper Georges Valley Road) between the intersections of Bible and Egg Hill roads in Potter Township. This closure is expected to last at least until 4 p.m.
- Route 2012 (Sara Campbell Lane/Penn’s Cave Road/Water Street/Cooper Street/Penn’s Creek Street) between the intersections of Coburn and Beaver Dam roads in Penn Township. PennDOT expects this closure to remain in place until at least until 4 p.m.
- Route 4002 (North Moshannon Avenue/Clarence Road) between the intersections of Fountain Road in Snow Shoe Township and Fourth Street in Snow Show Borough. PennDOT expects this closure to remain in place until at least 5 p.m.
- Route 4004 (Chestnut Grove Road/Bush Hollow Road) between intersections of Bald Eagle Valley Road in Union Township and Snow Shoe Mountain Road in Boggs Township. PennDOT expects this closure to remain in place until at least 5 p.m.
Clearfield County
- Route 219 between the intersections of Harmony an Sylvis roads in Burnside Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 3 p.m.
- Route 322 between the intersections of Route 53 in Decatur Township and Route 2007 in Boggs Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 3:30 p.m.
- Route 1001 (River Road) between the intersections of High Level Road in Lawrence in Lawrence Township and Mount Joy Road in Clearfield Borough. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 3 p.m.
- Route 2024 (Pleasant Hill Road/Dimeling Road/Old Erie Pike) between the intersections of Route 322 in Decatur Township and Blue Ball Road in Boggs Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 3 p.m.
Elk County
- Route 555 between intersections of Route 255 in Jay Township, Elk County, and Route 120 in Driftwood Borough, Cameron County. This closure is expected to last at least until 5 p.m.
Juniata County
- Route 2007 between the intersections of Cedar Springs Road in Walker Township and Zendt Hollow Road in Walker Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until 6:30 p.m.
Mifflin County
- Route 1002 (Honey Creek Road/New Lancaster Valley Road/Logan Street/Locke Mills Road/Walnut Street) between the intersections of Naginey and Boar Skin roads in Armagh Township. This closure is expected to last until at least 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.
- Route 1003 (Siglerville Road) at the intersection of Lower Creek Road. This closure is expected to last until at least 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.
Potter County
- Route 49 between the intersections of Dibble Road in Harrison Township and Short Cut Road in Bingham Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 5 p.m.
- Route 49 between the intersections of Short Cut Road in Bingham Township and Dibble Hollow Road in Harrison Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 6 p.m.
- Route 449 between the intersections of Fox Hill Road in Ulysses and the beginning or Route 449. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least 6 p.m.
- Route 1005 (Phoenix Road/Phoenix Run Road) between the intersections of Route 3003 in Pike Township and Potterbrook Spur Road in Hector Township at the Tioga County line. This closure is expected to remain in place until 3 p.m.
- Route 3002 (Cowley Hill Road) between the intersections of Main Street in Portage and Bush Hill road in Keating Township. This closure is expected to remain in place until 8 p.m.
- Route 4013 between the intersections of Route 6 in Coudersport and Route 49 in Allegany Township. This closure is expected to remain in place 4 p.m.
PennDOT also cautions motorists to never drive through flooded roadways, as it takes just two feet of fast-moving water to float a car. Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs.
