HOUTZDALE – Family and friends of Scott Beers have finalized plans for the sixth annual Memorial Ride for Scott Beers to be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Hale Road, Houtzdale.
The day-long event features an ATV scenic ride in the mountains along with corn hole games, food, music and memorabilia including the t-shirt that is created for the annual ride.
Valerie Beers said, “This year we’ve already sold over 100 shirts and will deliver them before the ride begins. Everything else needed to make the day a success including the food, drinks, paper products, the time to setup and prepare the gathering area is all donated by a huge group of friends and family.”
Gordon Beers added, “Memorial wrist bands, koozies, lanyards and other swag are donated every year by a family who were very close to Scott and we appreciate their kindness and generosity. All of this is done in memory of Scott.”
As in past years, friends and family will arrive in the woods at the gathering area by noon arriving in their buggies, motor bikes and ATVs.
A huge lunch will be served including BBQ pork sandwiches, pierogis, hotdogs, burgers and frozen fruit cups. Before the ride begins, everyone assembles for a group photo.
Mark McCracken, executive director of the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation stated, “Valerie and Gordon along with all the family and friends of Scott have done a tremendous job of supporting the scholarship fund.
“All the dedication and commitment they’ve shown to the annual ATV ride event and to the scholarship fund has generated over $22,000 to date donated to the Scott Beers Memorial Scholarship Fund with the CCCF.
“Those donations are then invested to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center. For 2024 scholarships were awarded to Wyatt Schwiderske, Kiersten McGarry, Dorothy Bailor and Calli Manno.”
