WHITE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Clearfield County man was charged with robbery and other crimes following investigation into an incident yesterday in Indiana County.
Nicholas Joseph Holbert, 22, of Osceola Mills was charged with one felony count of robbery and misdemeanor counts of possessing instruments of crime and theft by unlawful taking or disposition. Charges were filed yesterday before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Sottile III, who issued a warrant for Holbert’s arrest.
Holbert was interviewed by troopers today and is currently in custody awaiting his preliminary arraignment.
On July 16, 2024 at approximately 5:23 p.m., members of the Troop A, Indiana Patrol Unit were dispatched to investigate a robbery that was reported to have occurred along Pompano Drive in White Township. Upon arrival, troopers met with the victim, an 18-year-old male of Indiana, Pa.
The victim advised that he was with a group of his friends and was walking away from the group when Holbert placed him in a choke-hold, pressed a pistol to the left side of the victim’s abdomen, and demanded the victim’s wallet and wristwatch, a Rolex. Holbert, the victim reported, then pressed the pistol to the left side of the victim’s neck. The victim advised that he then dropped his wallet, which contained $400, and gave Holbert his wristwatch after which Holbert fled the scene.
While canvassing the area for Holbert, troopers, believing that Holbert may still be armed, conducted a felony traffic stop at the Regency Mall parking lot in White Township on a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident. Holbert was not located in the vehicle and the vehicle and its occupants were subsequently released.
During the overnight hours, troopers were contacted by the victim, who advised that Holbert had since returned the stolen property.
