PENFIELD – Several upcoming programs have been planned at Parker Dam State Park, beginning July 24.
Wednesday, July 24
Used-to-Be Hike
10 a.m. – meet in front of park office
Enjoy this hike through the day use area to look at locations where things used-to-be. Time has removed many structures in the park, but you can still see the footprints, if you know how to look.
Thursday, July 25
Archery Basics
10 a.m. – Office Classroom
Learn the basics of shooting a bow and arrow. Proper stance, draw and so on. Ages eight and older.
Friday, July 26
From Stump to Ship
8:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater
Enjoy this video showing historic lumbering techniques, very similar to what went on here at Parker Dam back in the 1880’s.
Saturday, July 27
Log Drive!
3 p.m. – Beach
Kids, bring your water buckets to the beach to create a scale-model log drive, something that happened right here at Parker Dam from the 1870’s through 1888.
Woodsmen and River Drivers
8:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater
Enjoy another historic video/documentary about the lumbering practices and techniques of earlier years.
