CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners officially adopted an updated comprehensive plan on Tuesday.
The comprehensive plan addresses major aspects of community development within the county, including transportation, land use, economic development and education, among others.
The county worked jointly on the initiative with Elk County to save on development costs. Assistance was also provided by the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission.
Clearfield County’s plan was last updated in 2006, while Elk County’s plan dates back to 1999, according to previously-published news articles.
Planning Director Jodi Brennan said having an updated comprehensive plan puts the county in a more proactive position, and will be advantageous to local communities and the organizations and agencies within them.
“It won’t be a plan that just sits there,” she said, adding they will be working with a professional consultant on the development of a “report card” to track annual progress and make appropriate updates.
Brennan said Elk County hasn’t yet adopted its updated comprehensive plan, noting this has no bearing on the county’s adoption and implementation of its own plan.
