CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Historical Society is pleased to announce the election of Roger Rorabaugh of Burnside to its Board of Directors.
Roger has deep roots in Clearfield County, going back to 1837 when his great-great-grandfather, John R. Rorabaugh, married and moved to Burnside Township. His brother, Dan still owns this land today.
Roger along with his brothers, Dan and Bob, were the former owners and operators of Rorabaugh Lumber Company, which was a fundamental part of the town of Burnside for over 60 years.
The company was founded in 1951 by their father, Robert R. Rorabaugh, in Deer Run, near Mahaffey, and in 1959 the mill was relocated to Burnside Township near the Rorabaugh family homestead.
Roger and his wife, Melanie are active in the Harmony Grange Fair. His interest in local history and his vast knowledge of the lumber and timber industry will be a real asset to the board and society.
