BELLWOOD — The Clearfield Bison baseball team’s struggles continued in Bellwood Monday. The Bison dropped their fifth straight game despite only allowing runs in one inning. But the four runs Bellwood-Antis scored in the second inning would be enough in a 4-2 victory over the Bison.
Hunter Rumsky took the mound to face off against Vincent Cacciotti in a matchup of two seniors.
Clearfield got the bats going early in the top of the second. Hayvin Bumbarger hit an opposite-field double to score O’ Brian Owens from second to give his squad a 1-0 lead.
The next half inning, Bellwood-Antis answered with a two-rbi single from Connor Cobaugh. Chase Plummer would add on to the scoring with yet another two-run single to make the score 4-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Bison catcher Cole Bloom hit a single to score Matt Irvin from third and cut the lead in half, 4-2.
This would be as close as the Bison would come, as Rumsky took the loss in a complete game.
Clearfield (2-6) will play a home game Tuesday as they desperately look to get back on track versus Penns Valley.
