GROVE CITY — The Curwensville Golden Tide wrestling team made their annual trek to Grove City High School over the weekend to compete at the Fred Bell Memorial Tournament.
They cam home with three podium finishes and an 18th place finish, the exact same spot they landed as a team last year.
172 pound senior Logan Aughenbaugh (33-5) went 5-2 for the tourney to place fifth, after being defeated in the quarterfinals. 10-11)Aughenbaugh currently has a 95-30 career record, leaving him just five wins from the century mark.
Trenton Guiher (20-12) placed sixth at 215 after going 3-3. Guiher reached the semifinals, was defeated in his last three matches.
285 pounder Brooks Hendershot (10-11) had the exact same fate as Guiher, as he reached the semis and lost his last three matches to match Guiher’s sixth place finish.
The only other Tide wrestler to reach Saturday’s wrestling was Alex Murawski (20-13), also competing at 172, who won his first consolation match on the day, but fell one win short of placing.
The Tide (8-12) will take place in the 2024 District 9 Team Wrestling Championships next Saturday at Brookville High School. The number seven seeded Tide will face the number two seed Port Allegany at 10:00 AM in the quarterfinals.
