WINGATE — The Clearfield Lady Bison wrestling team took eighth place out of 23 teams at the Bald Eagle Area Tournament Saturday.
The 6-person contingent put up 54 points as Cumberland Valley with their 214 points ran away with the team title with almost 100 points more than runner-up Dallastown’s 126.
The Lady Bison were once gain led by Makayla Taylor, as she won the top spot in the 155 pound weight class. Taylor pinned all three of her opponents, earning her gold with a 3:05 pin in the finals against Cumberland Valley’s Emma Beaven.
At 170, Aylee Johnston lost her first match of the day and then ran off four straight pins through the wrestlebacks to place third. She earned her bronze with a 1:52 pin of Dallastown’s Amelia Smith in the consolation finals.
At 136, both Ellie McBride and Alara Quickel contributed team points with first round consolation wins.
148 pounder Araya Korb and 190 pounder Taylor Blantz each went 0-2.
The Lady Bison will participate in the Lady Mountie Tournament at Philipsburg-Osceola High School next Saturday, February 3.
