- Police reported on Jan. 13 that a warrant service in Clearfield Borough resulted in a drug arrest. According to a department-issued news release, 30-year-old Shay T. Witherite was observed in the 200-block of South Third Street. He was wanted on three active warrants through the department, and when he was taken into custody, he was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Witherite was charged with possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently housed in county jail.
- Police reported on Jan. 13 that a drug arrest occurred in the 200-block of Maple Avenue in Lawrence Township. According to a department-issued news release, information was received concerning a male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a driveway. When contact was made with him and he got out, police saw drug paraphernalia within the vehicle. Upon further investigation, numerous amounts of pills and methamphetamine were allegedly seized from the male offender. The male, identified as 33-year-old Nevin Kruise II, is facing charges for possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Police reported sexual assault charges were filed against 35-year-old Lance Spencer of Clearfield. According to a department-issued news release, the investigation began Oct. 22, 2023 when a juvenile provided initial details to police. It was noted that another interview was done at the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County. The investigation revealed a victim from a previous incident; they were interviewed and provided details similar to the more recent report. Police subsequently obtained a warrant for Spencer Jan. 12 on charges of aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and related offenses. Online court documents indicate he’s currently scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 24 during centralized court. Bail has been set at $25,000, which he’s posted.
- Police reported an incident of access device fraud that occurred on East Market Street in Clearfield Borough. According to a department-issued news release, police discovered a 40-year-old male had attempted to use two stolen credit cards. Charges were filed through the district court.
