CLEARFIELD – The fifth person charged in connection with an alleged robbery that occurred earlier this month in Hyde has been taken into custody, Clearfield Regional police say.
Recently charges were filed against Jason Sipe, 43, of Hyde; John Irwin, 39, of DuBois; Bradley Maines, 46, of Woodland; Paul Hoyt, 34, of Curwensville; and Taylor Wisor, 35, also of Hyde.
Maines, Sipe, Hoyt and Wisor were previously arraigned and housed in county jail while a warrant remained active for Irwin.
But online court documents now indicate Irwin is scheduled for preliminary arraignment this afternoon before Magisterial District Judge David S. Meholick.
The charges stem from events that occurred at approximately 3:47 a.m. Oct. 6 on Powell Avenue in Hyde, according to a previous department-issued news release.
The victim told officers he was asked to take a friend to a residence, but upon their arrival, he was beaten numerous times in the legs by people with baseball bats.
He was also allegedly forced to remove his clothes, with the group taking everything in his possession as well as his vehicle. He then fled on foot and found someone to call police.
The victim’s vehicle was left abandoned in another location, the release states, but was recovered by officers.
Sipe was charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), robbery (two counts) and theft by unlawful taking, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
Hoyt was charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), theft by unlawful taking and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
Maines was charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), as well as misdemeanor reckless endangerment and conspiracy (two counts).
Wisor was charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), as well as misdemeanor possession of instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, conspiracy (two counts) and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Irwin was charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), robbery (two counts) and theft by unlawful taking, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
Irwin is currently scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Nov. 8 during centralized court.
