DuBOIS – Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes board-certified surgeon Michelle Mouria, MD, FACS, to its medical staff.
Dr. Mouria joins Penn Highlands General Surgery at 145 Hospital Avenue, Suite 313, in DuBois.
Dr. Mouria has had 13 years of well-rounded surgical experience after her general surgery training in Chicago. She had been a teaching faculty in an academic General Surgery Residency training program at Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital Burn Center in Pittsburgh; had practiced in rural America of Wyoming and West Virginia, and in US Territory Island of Guam; had gone in humanitarian surgical missions to Togo, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia; and had served in austere combat zone during her deployment with the United States Army, as she is currently a Major in the Army Medical Reserve Forward Surgical Team.
Dr. Mouria’s skill sets are equally broad, as she specializes in trauma and general surgery emergencies, providing expert care to patients experiencing severe injuries. She is skilled in advanced minimally invasive surgeries; she is certified in the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Dr. Mouria is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Excelsior Military Surgical Society.
Common treatments and procedures include emergency surgery life-threatening conditions, trauma surgery, and care of the injured.
Dr. Mouria graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Medical College of Virginia) in Richmond VA, and completed her residency in General Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago IL.
