DUBOIS – A Falls Creek man is being charged with burglary and assault for allegedly entering a DuBois home where he threatened and struck a man multiple times.
Daniel John Confer, 42, was charged by DuBois City police with burglary and criminal trespass, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor terroristic threats and simple assault in connection to his actions on Oct. 3.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victims told police that earlier that day they had missed a phone call from Confer, who was looking for a ride home from the hospital.
They were sleeping in the living room around 3 a.m. when Confer opened the front door and entered the residence, they told police. The wife said that she had forgotten to lock the door after coming home from work.
Confer then began yelling at her allegedly saying he was “going to take everyone out,” starting with her husband because the woman would not get back together with him.
She agreed to give Confer a ride home and woke up her husband who Confer then reportedly struck in the face five times with a closed fist.
The victim said he couldn’t get Confer off of him and had to block Confer from choking him.
Confer stated, “You are lucky there are people here or I would kill you,” according to the criminal complaint.
The woman then took Confer home to Falls Creek, “to get him away from them,” the criminal complaint says.
She explained that he was in the residence the day before to help fix an issue with a faucet, but that night he was not invited in or given permission to enter the home.
Police noted in the report that the victim’s face had several fresh cuts, marks and blood by his nose, the left side of his face and inside of his left ear.
Confer’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at District Judge Dave Meholick’s office in DuBois.
