DUBOIS – A DuBois man is facing 148 various charges for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl repeatedly for over a year.
The charges against Sean Daniel Lechiara, 39, filed Thursday by DuBois City police include multiple counts of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with person less than 16, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and more.
He was arraigned Thursday and he remains incarcerated at the Clearfield County Jail on $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 8 at District Judge David Meholick’s office in DuBois.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, in May police were called to investigate a report of sexual assault by a seventh grader. She told an officer she has been sexually assaulted by Lechiara for approximately 18 months at a DuBois home.
During her interview at the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center, she described the assaults as “painful and forced upon her,” it says in the criminal complaint.
“She felt helpless to stop the assaults or know where to get help.”
In an effort to disclose the abuse to her mother, the girl wrote a series of notes about the assaults, including that she was afraid her mother wouldn’t believe her and left them in her room “in hopes her mother would find them.”
She told her best friend and a former boyfriend what was happening and they later confirmed what the girl said.
The victim told investigators she was forced to perform sex acts on Lechiara and have intercourse with him. He also allegedly showed her pornography.
Photos of the girl posing in a sexual manner in her underwear were found on his phone, according to the report.
