BRADFORD TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police have released the details of a two-vehicle crash in Bradford Township that killed a local teen early Tuesday morning.
According to a release issued by PSP Clearfield on Thursday, August 24, the crash took place at 2:21 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, at the intersection of U.S. Route 322 and Shiloh Road, in Bradford Township, Clearfield County.
Police say 19-year-old Derraick S. Burkett, of Reynoldsville, was traveling south in 2022 a Chevrolet Colorado when he failed to stop at the flashing red signal at the intersection.
Burkett drove into the path of a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia operated by 61-year-old Fatmi Abdelkirm, of Los Angeles, Calif.
The tractor-trailer struck Burkett’s pickup in the passenger side, causing it to lose control, and strike a guide rail on the northern side of Route 322.
Burkett’s pickup continued in an uncontrolled manner and traveled across both lanes of travel on Route 322. It then struck the guide rail again on the southern side of Route 322 and came to rest along the guide rail.
Burkett’s pickup then caught on fire.
The tractor-trailer continued in an uncontrolled manner eastbound on Route 322 and left the roadway before coming to rest in a culvert alongside the roadway.
Burkett was pronounced deceased on scene.
His passenger—19-year-old Audrielle L. Goodrow, of Woodland—was transported to a nearby hospital to treat an injury of unknown severity.
Abdelkirm was also transported to a medical facility for injuries of unknown severity.
Police were assisted on scene by BJW Volunteer Fire Company, Clearfield Fire Department, Clearfield EMS, Bloom Heavy Duty Towing, Emigh’s Towing, Clearfield County Corner’s office, and PennDOT.
