KYLERTOWN – Charges have been filed against a local man for allegedly raping a young girl multiple times over a period of time.
Michael L. Lutz, 47, of Philipsburg has been charged by Clearfield state police with seven counts each of felony rape of child, aggravated indecent assault of child and corruption of minors; seven misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault and child endangerment; and related offenses.
He was arraigned Wednesday and incarcerated at Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, which he’s posted. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 6 at centralized court.
Court documents indicate the investigation began in May when ChildLine, Children & Youth Services and state police received reports that Lutz was sexually assaulting the victim.
The assaults occurred multiple times at two, different residences—one in Bradford Township and another in Decatur Township, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
In a forensic Child Advocacy Center interview, the victim said Lutz began having sex with her when she was four years of age and it had been ongoing through 2022-23.
In an interview with Cpl. Matthew Higgins at PSP Clearfield, Lutz denied ever having sexual intercourse with the victim, or ever having inappropriately touched her.
In a second forensic CAC interview, the victim told investigators that Lutz and his wife—Nicole M. Lutz, 42, also of Philipsburg—had asked her to report that she’d made up the allegations.
Nicole Lutz has also been charged with felony child endangerment, as well as felony intimidates or intends to intimidate person to give false or misleading information and intimidate witness/victim to give false/misleading testimony
