CLEARFIELD – An area man is charged with the alleged rape of a teenage girl.
Hunter L. Vroman, 22, of Punxsutawney is charged by Clearfield Regional police with felony rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors as well as misdemeanor indecent assault and sell/furnish liquor, etc. to minor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Mike Morris, Vroman was invited over to a Clearfield Borough residence May 30.
The victim—a 15-year-old girl—was also staying there. She was given beer, Twisted Tea and a red mixed drink; she became “very intoxicated, which made the night “fuzzy” in her memory, the affidavit states.
At some point, Vroman started asking her to have sex with him and she stated “no.” She couldn’t remember if she gave in or not but did say it wasn’t consensual because she was drunk.
In a police interview June 9, Vroman initially denied he had any sexual contact with the victim.
He claimed they slept on the same air mattress but had different locations and blankets due to their age difference.
Vroman later admitted that he did have sex with the victim twice on the night of May 30 into the morning of May 31.
Allegedly Vroman also admitted to causing the bruising observed on the victim’s body, as well as to drinking earlier in the evening and bringing alcohol with him.
Vroman had all charges bound over to county court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday. Bail is $30,000 monetary.
