Court documents show that the DuBois City Police Department filed criminal charges against 59-year-old Brenda Pisarcik, listed as homeless-DuBois, in Magisterial District Judge David S. Meholick’s office on June 1.
According to the criminal complaint, on May 31, 2023, around 12:46 p.m., officers from the DuBois City Police Department were informed that Brenda Sue Pisarcik stole a bag of Classic Lay’s chips and one large fountain drink from the Sheetz store located on North Brady Street, in DuBois, Clearfield County.
Sheetz staff confirmed the theft on video, the complaint states.
The video shows Pisarcik gather the items and proceed into the bathroom. She later came out with nothing, the complaint continues.
Pisarcik was located later during the day by DuBois Police Chief Clark. Pisarcik stated to Clark that she took these items, according to the complaint.
Pisarcik stated she had the money but didn’t pay. She also stated that she was staying in multiple houses as she was homeless, the complaint indicates.
The cost of the items that were stolen was determined to be $3.88, the complaint notes.
According to the complaint, a DuBois City Police Officer reviewed Pisarcik’s criminal history and found one previous conviction for retail theft in Pennsylvania. She also had two retail theft charges awaiting disposition.
Due to the one conviction and the two pending cases, charges were upgraded to a misdemeanor of the second degree, the complaint states.
Pisarcik was arraigned at 11:15 a.m. on June 5, on the following charge in front of Judge Meholick:
- Retail Theft – Take Merchandise, Misdemeanor 2
Unable to post $1,500.00 monetary bail, Pisarcik was lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is set for Friday, June 30, at 10:15 a.m., with Judge Meholick presiding.
