BROOKVILLE — As the season draws closer to the end, the Curwensville Lady Tide still battle to the best of their abilities. Even with no wins on their record this year, there’s been no quit and no hesitation each time the squad takes to the court.
Friday night was no exception, as Curwensville made a trip west to Brookville, as a contest with the Lady Raiders awaited.
The trip home was much the same as in prior instances, as Curwensville came home following a 56-24 loss.
Much like a few other contests, the game saw Curwensville fight hard, but at the outset it was Brookville gaining the advantage. In the opening quarter, the Lady Raiders took a quick 21-6 advantage, spreading the ball around as five players managed to put up points. It was the second quarter when the leading scorer for Brookville, Eden Wonderling, would put up the most points of anyone in the contest. Her eight points accounted for half of Brookville’s scoring in the second stanza, as the home squad took a 35-15 advantage into the locker room.
Wonderling finished the night with a game-high 15 points.
Curwensville still battled through the second half, as both Skylar Pentz and Karleigh Freyer finished with 10 points each. But, by that time the running clock was in effect as the Lady Raiders held a 52-19 lead after three quarters.
Curwensville (0-16) has six games remaining on the season, with three in the next week, and all are happening inside Patton Hall. The week will start with the Lady Hornets of Juniata Valley on Monday night. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. with no junior varsity contest prior.
