WTAJ Your News leader and WeAreCentralPA.com announced today that WTAJ will change the way weather forecasting is done in central Pennsylvania.
Beginning tomorrow on WTAJ News at Noon, WTAJ will launch VIPIR Radar from Baron Weather. Baron Weather is a leader in the field of weather forecasting with exclusive radar technology.
“VIPIR radar is going to dramatically improve how we can look at storms in the area. We’re going to see more details and faster. That means we are going to be able to keep people safer,” says Chief meteorologist Joe Murgo.
VIPIR radar has many exclusive features that will only be available to WTAJ viewers. It’s the most advanced broadcast radar system in the region.
The technology will allow WTAJ Meteorologists to track storms faster and with greater detail than ever before.
Murgo says, “The graphics system that is built around the VIPIR radar is going to allow us to show you things that we have never been able to show you before.
“We’re now going to be able to show you what the road conditions are now and how they will change into the future.”
Steven Shaw, WTAJ news director, says: “Upgrading our weather system to VIPIR was done with our communities in mind.
“We understand that our viewers and readers come to WTAJ first when they want to know the weather. Be that at the bus stop in the morning or if severe weather is expected.
“VIPIR allows us to better serve those who depend on us by delivering increasingly accurate forecasts, quicker than anyone else.”
Phil Dubrow, vice president and general manager of WTAJ-TV, says: “WTAJ has always been the best source for accurate weather forecasts.
“With VIPIR this provides us with more timely information that can help us get important information out even earlier.”
