LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – Jason Stiles, 44, of Clearfield is behind bars for leading Lawrence Township police on a high-speed pursuit April 17.
According to a department-issued news release, officers conducted a traffic stop at 2:54 a.m. in the area of Old Erie Pike and Lawrence Grange Road.
When police approached, Stiles reportedly fled and a pursuit ensued at speeds over 90 miles per hour. It continued onto Scribbers and Clover Hill roads until reaching the Krebs Highway.
Stiles then pulled over near Crooked Sewer, where he fled on foot into a wooded area. He was eventually taken into custody after a short struggle, police said.
He was allegedly found to be under the influence of a controlled substance(s), in possession of crystal methamphetamine and to have a suspended license.
Stiles refused to submit to a legal blood draw, and was housed in Clearfield County Jail for fleeing/eluding police, resisting arrest, DUI/controlled substance and related charges.
